Pine-Richland Students write letters to politicians, writers, public figures, and so forth as a way to bring community participation in the symposium. First year's Symposium about Democratic Learning in the Twenth Century had Keynote speakers Congressman Jason Altmire; Dr. John Poulakos from Universary of Pittsburgh; and a web-conference with Dr. Gerald Zahorchak, the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education. The Keynote speakers for 2011's symposium remain unannounced until a later date.
